WORKSHOPS
Textiles are a good starting point for communication between individuals.
Most people are familiar with the mechanics of doing up zips and
buttons and have memories of clothes they have worn and the emotions
connected to such events. Places also have an importance to people,
as is the need to create a narrative of their experience. The
workshops will draw on these aspects to create a personal textile
work.
Workshops
in 2008 include: Melbourne, Alice Springs, NT Australia, Beccles,
Colchester, Chelmsford.
TALKS
The talks are concerned with aspects of Mary's textile work and
the subject matter which is of interest to her, particularly ancient
sites in Syria, Australia and Ireland, which provide inspiration.
She also talks on aspects of creativity and memories and ways
to incorporate these into a piece of narrative textile work.
